Mark Friedlander
Biography
Mark C. Friedlander is the Co-Chair and a founding partner of the Construction Law Group of the law firm of Schiff Hardin LLP. He obtained his B.A. from the University of Michigan in 1978 and his J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1981. Since 1985 he has been an adjunct professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago School of Architecture and from 1995-2006 a lecturer at Northwestern Universitys Engineering School.
Mr. Friedlander served as Chairman of the Professional Practices and Contracts Committee of the Design Build Institute of America. He is a Fellow of the American College of Construction Lawyers and was Chair of its Project Delivery Systems Committee from 2000-2005. He is a founder of and the immediate Past President-Elect of the Society of Illinois Construction Attorneys. He also served as the legal advisor to the Testimony Review Subcommittee of the American Consulting Engineers Council from 1988-92 and was a member of the Committee on Outsourcing of Design and the Construction Management Services for Federal Facilities of the National Research Council, Commission on Engineering and Technical Systems, Board of Infrastructure and the Constructed Environment, National Academy of Science and Engineering. Mr. Friedlander serves on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Construction Accounting and Taxation. He has served on the Construction Arbitration Advisory Panel of the American Arbitration Association and is a member of the American, Illinois and Chicago Bar Associations, as well as of the Forum Committee on Construction Law.
Mr. Friedlander writes and speaks frequently on various issues of construction law and litigation. Recently, he has concentrated his practice in alternative project delivery methods, particularly design-build, and is credited with having developed and popularized a new business structure for design-build construction projects that allows architects to lead the design-build team. Dr. Mark L. Frigo
Biography
Director of The Center for Strategy, Execution, and Valuation in the Kellstadt Graduate School of Business at DePaul University and Ledger & Quill Alumni Foundation Distinguished Professor of Strategy and Leadership. Author of six books and over 70 articles, his work is published in leading journals including Harvard Business Review. Dr. Frigo is a frequent contributor and an editor for Strategic Finance and lectures at universities and conferences throughout North America and Europe. He is a leading expert on strategy and execution in high-performance companies and strategic risk management. Mark helps executive teams and entrepreneurs to develop strategy and execution plans that drive results, greater profitability, growth and valuation.
Dr. Frigo has taught over six thousand MBA students and thousands of executives, managers and entrepreneurs. Dr. Frigo is recipient of the Economos Award for outstanding teaching in the Kellstadt Graduate School of Business MBA program, and he was recently profiled in Crain's Chicago Business in an article about top Business School professors.
Dr. Frigo is co-creator of the Return Driven Strategy framework (with Joel Litman) which is used by corporate management teams, entrepreneurs, boards of directors, investment banks and money managers to make the connection between a company's business strategy and its market valuation. Mark is co-author of Driven: Business Strategy, Human Actions and the Creation of Wealth.
