Steven A. Amjad
Biography
Steven A. Amjad brings extensive experience in many aspects of legal practice to the clients of Meyer Capel. Over the last several years he has specialized his area of practice in litigation including complex commercial litigation, personal injury, toxic tort defense and criminal defense.
Mr. Amjad's office is located in Champaign County, however, he frequently travels to litigate cases in central Illinois including travel to Coles County, Cumberland County, DeWitt County, Douglas County, Edgar County, Effingham County, Ford County, Iroquois County, Macon County, McLean County, Sangamon County, Shelby County, Tazewell County and Vermilion County.
Mr. Amjad has represented both large and small corporate clients and private individuals; he has represented shareholders, consumers, retailers, individuals, property owners, and product manufacturers. He has been an advocate for clients involved in contract disputes, land disputes, farming issues, statutory violations, title issues and creditor collections. Steve has resolved many cases through settlement before, during and after trial. Mr. Amjad's MBA in finance gives his clients an added, unique area of additional expertise that many other business litigation attorneys lack. In addition to his trial experience, Mr. Amjad has argued before the Fourth District Appellate Court in Illinois.
His personal injury practice focuses on the representation of injured people and not large insurance companies. It is often difficult deal with life after a serious accident. Mr. Amjad has helped client's navigate claims with their own insurance carrier in addition to representing them in actions against other individuals and insurance companies. There are many issues to keep in mind in evaluating a claim for injuries after an accident including doctor's bills, time lost from work, medical costs for ongoing injuries, pain and suffering and a change in lifestyle. Mr. Amjad represents Plaintiff's (injured persons) in this area of the law and helps them value their loss and obtain compensation for their injuries.
Mr. Amjad and the attorneys at Meyer Capel have experience in defending toxic tort cases in Central Illinois. The firm has worked with large international chemical products manufacturers on all aspects of their defense. Mr. Amjad and the Meyer Capel team have been able to maintain and coordinate the defense of these complicated matters that often involve coordinating a defense amongst many parties with varying interests and levels of liability.
The criminal law practice is specialized and often depends on a local connection for a quick resolution. Mr. Amjad is currently a special prosecutor in Champaign County in addition to his criminal defense practice. As a prosecutor and defense attorney, Mr. Amjad has handled criminal cases ranging from misdemeanors to serious felonies.
Steve is a member of the Illinois and Missouri State Bar Associations. He is also a licensed real estate broker in the State of Missouri on inactive status.

Jasleen K. Anand

JASLEEN K. ANAND, ESQ., is the principal attorney in the Law Offices Of Jasleen K. Anand, Garden City, New York. She is a 1991 graduate of St. John's University (Bachelor of Science - Criminal Justice) and a year 2000 graduate of Touro Law Center, Huntington, New York. Upon graduation she served as an Associate at the Law office of Upton, Cohen & Slamowitz and practiced commercial litigation.
In 2002, Jasleen decided to be a sole practitioner. In her practice, she represents real estate builders and developers of affordable housing projects, purchasers and sellers of residential, commercial and mixed-use property, business owners in purchases and sales of businesses and in negotiating their commercial leasehold agreements. She also engages herself some estate planning issues emanating from the real estate world.
Jasleen has lectured on the topic of Commercial Leasing to lawyers via an Audio-Tape presentation sponsored by National Academy of Continuing Legal Education, allowing for listeners to earn CLE credits. She is a frequent lecturer and panelist at ABA Symposia as well as conferences organized by New York State Association for Affordable Housing (NYSAFAH). She has also written for publications including Probate and Property magazine and RPTE E-DIRT alert.
Jasleen is an active member of the Real Property Law Committee at the Nassau County Bar Association, Affordable Housing Committee of the Residential Multi-Use Group at the American Bar Association and a frequent pro bono attorney for the New York City Bar Association.

Robert C. Anderson
Biography
Mr. Anderson is a partner in the Las Vegas office of Holland & Hart LLP, where he practices in the areas of corporate structuring, the structure and taxation of complex real estate transactions, mergers and acquisitions and all aspects of federal income tax law. He has been profiled in Corporate Counsel Magazine as one of the best corporate lawyers in Nevada and has also been listed in The Best Lawyers in America in both corporate law and tax law since 1989. A former adjunct professor at Golden Gate University where he taught classes in corporate reorganizations, Mr. Anderson currently teaches as a guest lecturer at both the University of Nevada, Reno and University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Additionally, he has co-written numerous materials for CLE presentations on federal income tax law, limited liability companies and is a regular speaker at all topics related to real estate, partnership and corporate transactions. He is a former chairman of the Tax Section of the State Bar of Nevada. Mr. Anderson earned a Bachelor of Arts degree and his J.D. degree from the University of Florida. He has a LL.M in taxation from McGeorge School of Law and is a Certified Public Accountant in Nevada. Mr. Anderson is a member of the Washoe County, the Clark County and the American bar associations and the State Bar of Nevada. He is also involved in a number of charitable and non-profit organizations.
