Return to CYTO 2011 Recordings Events Library Menu
The International Society for Advancement of Cytometry is an educational organization that leads the way in development of cytometry, transfer of new methodologies, and exchange of cutting-edge scientific and technical information in quantitative cell sciences.
Webcasts of 3 Scientific Tutorials and the Polychromatic Flow Cytometry Intermediate PreCongress Course recorded at CYTO2011 in Baltimore are available here. For ISAC members, the Scientific Tutorials are available free of charge, and the Polychromatic Flow course at a reduced rate. There are 10 sessions included in the Polychromatic Flow course. You can view the 15 minute introduction What is Polychromatic Flow Cytometry? free of charge, for an overview of the course. We are very grateful to the authors for generously donating their presentations.

Best Practices for Immune Monitoring by Flow Cytometry
Conference : Scientific Tutorial
Speaker(s) : Holden T. Maecker
Download Format(s) : SAV |

- This tutorial will focus on the design of immune monitoring assays in clinical studies. We will focus on types of assays, sample handling, instrument setup, and data acquisition and analysis. Ways in which these areas can be standardized and optimized, and the inevitable compromises that result, will be discussed. The target audience will be those with a basic knowledge of flow cytometry, but who would like a deeper understanding of specific assays and the choices involved in applying those assays in clinical studies.

Safe Sorting: Principles and Practices
Conference : Scientific Tutorial
Speaker(s) : Kevin L. Homes
Download Format(s) : SAV |

- This tutorial will focus on biosafety principles at they apply to cell sorting. Topics will include Risk Assessment, Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) development, containment and testing of containment on cell sorters. Practical examples of setting up a BSL3 cell sorting facility will also be discussed.

Fluorescent Probes and the Analysis of Fluorescent Proteins
Conference : Scientific Tutorial
Speaker(s) : Bill Telford , Alan Waggoner
Download Format(s) : SAV |

- The lecture given by Dr. Waggoner describes the physical, chemical, and optical characteristics of a wide variety of fluorochromes. Dr. Waggoner also gave this same talk as part of the Building Rainbows, Fundamentals of Polychromatic Flow CYtometry course. Dr Telford's talk gives a comprehensive overview of the new fluorescent proteins. .
