Indeed, we yearn for the answer, and desire to truly be set on fire with the knowledge of Christs presence. Christian stewardship helps us on this journey of encounter. The theme for the International Catholic Stewardship Councils 2012 conference is With Hearts on Fire, from Lukes story of the Emmaus event. The two disciples journeying to Emmaus are unaware that the stranger who walks by their side is the Risen Lord. Later, after they recognize him in the breaking of the bread, they recall, Did not our hearts burn within us as he talked to us on the road? Christian stewardship helps us to encounter and recognize Jesus: in our understanding of self, in prayer, in others, in the giftedness we discover and share. Stewardship opens the door to gratitude, a door which beckons us to a sacred encounter. The ICSC conference provides opportunities to learn about Christian stewardship and how it can set our hearts on fire.
