The Chicago Dental Society is an association for dentists in the metropolitan Chicago area; organizer of the Midwinter Meeting, the leading scientific dental meeting and tradeshow; and an advocate for improving oral health for all. Since its founding in 1864, and incorporation in 1878, CDSs mission has been to encourage the improvement of the health of the public, to promote the art and science of dentistry and to represent the interest of the members of the profession and the public that it serves.

- By 2011, nearly 10,000 Americans a day will turn 65. Ms. Turchetta will deliver an enlightening program to prepare you and your staff to overcome many of the challenges associated with treating the elderly and build a better patient relationship.

- How many of your patients are enduring some degree of pain or discomfort before, during or after a dental appointment? In the second part of her lecture, Ms. Turchetta will tackle the issues of dentin hypersensitivity and dental anxiety. - About our program: Dr. Crossley will provide the nuts and bolts of practical pharmacology that is useful to the dental practice. Using the top 50 most prescribed drugs as a template, Dr. Crossley will discuss the control of post-operative pain, the drug of choice for orofacial infections, the prophylaxis guidelines for cardiac and/or orthopedic prosthesis patient, the current information on bisphosphonate-induced osteonecrosis, as well as potentially harmful drug interactions. Dr. Crossley wil also discuss the most commonly abused prescription and street drugs.

- ABOUT OUR PROGRAM:
This multi-media presentation is designed to help dentists and their staffs better
understand and use digital cameras and digital imaging to improve communication
with patients and documentation for clinical treatment records. The course will cover
digital cameras, digital X-ray equipment, intraoral cameras and scanners. Attendees
will learn:
How to create high-quality digital images from their current 35 mm film camera
How to use digital images for patient consultations
How to submit X-rays to insurance companies
How to use a scanner to digitize 35 mm slides and negatives and dental X-rays
How to import digital images into Microsoft Word documents, Web sites, e-mail
and current office management software
How to manipulate and catalog digital images

dentists are now treating a growing number of patients with compromised cardiovascular
conditions. This poses a new set of risks in managing dental treatment.
