Harvey B. Wallace II

Harvey B. Wallace II Biography Harvey B. Wallace II is managing partner of the Detroit law firm of Berry Moorman PC. He is a graduate of Dartmouth College (BA, cum lade, 1966) and the University of Michigan Law School (JD 1969). Mr. Wallace has been an active member of the Real Property, Trust and Estate Law Section of the American Bar Association (RPTE) and has served as a member of the section's supervisory council (1998-2004) with oversignt for the section's employee benefit committees. He is a fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC) and a charter fellow of the American College of Employee Benefits Counsel (ACEBC). He currently serves on the Joint Committee on Employee Benefits (JCEB) as a liaison from RPTE. He is listed in The Best Lawyers in America (Trust and Estate Category), published by Woodward/White, Inc. Mr. Wallance has been an author of several articles published in Probate and Property (the magazine of RPTE) and has authored that magazine's employee benefits planning update column since 1997. Michael D. Whitty

Michael D. Whitty Biography Michael D. Whitty joins Vedder Price as a shareholder in the fi rm’s Tax and Estate Planning group concentrating his practice in estate planning, taxation, and estate and trust administration. Mr. Whitty represents principals of venture capital and private equity funds, key executives, investors and other wealthy individuals in planning for the preservation and transfer of their wealth. Specifi cally, he advises individual fi duciaries in the design or drafting of estate plans, wills, trusts, lifetime gifts, premarital agreement and other estate planning documents. Mr. Whitty reviews and manages estate and gift tax returns, including complex reporting and valuation issues. He has extensive experience with various types of trusts, family limited partnerships, corporate recapitalizations, shareholders’ and redemption agreements, private annuities, installment sales, intra-trust sales and other transactions, self-canceling installment notes and net gifts. Mr. Whitty consults with executors, administrators, guardians and trustees in probate and trust administration. He supervises the drafting of estate administration documents and the fi ling of pleadings, motions and accountings with probate courts. He also advises clients in connection with litigation involving disputes between trustees and benefi ciaries and in contested trust and tax matters, and serves as expert witness in such cases. Mr. Whitty is a Fellow of the American College of Trusts & Estates Counsel. Mr. Whitty is active as a member of the American Bar Association, in which he currently serves as chair of the Wealth Planning and Nontax Issues Group of the Probate and Trust Division of the Section of Real Property, Probate and Trust Law. He also is a member of the Chicago Estate Planning Council, Attorneys for Family-Held Enterprises, and the Family Firm Institute. Mr. Whitty served for three years as an adjunct professor of law at the Northwestern University School of Law, teaching a course titled “Federal Estate and Gift Taxation and Estate Planning.” He is a Certifi ed Financial Planning practitioner (CFP™) and a member of the Financial Planning Association of Illinois. Mr. Whitty is a frequent speaker on estate and fi nancial planning topics and appeared on the PBS program, Nightly Business Report, on December 21, 2005. He also served as a speaker at the 2005 Annual Conference of the Family Firm Institute held in Chicago in October 2005. Affiliation

Sterling Scott Willis

Sterling Scott Willis Biography Scott Willis is a partner in Correro Fishman Haygood Phelps Walmsley & Casteix, L.L.P. in New Orleans and is head of its Real Estate and Commercial Finance Groups. He practices primarily in the areas of commercial transactions, negotiated acquisitions, corporate and securities law, banking and commercial real estate. Mr. Willis graduated from Louisiana State University in 1980 and received his J.D. degree from LSU in 1983, where he was a member of the Order of the Coif, and also served as an Associate Editor of the Louisiana Law Review. Mr. Willis is a member of the New Orleans, Louisiana State, and American Bar Associations. He is a past chair of the ABA’s Real Property, Trust and Estate Law Section Committee on Legal Opinions, and since 1999, he has been a member of the Louisiana Bankers Association’s Bank Counsel Committee. Mr. Willis was a member of the drafting committee for the joint ABA/ACREL project that produced the Real Estate Opinion Letter Guidelines. He is also Treasurer of the New Orleans Bureau of Governmental Research. Mr. Willis is the author of the Article 9 Remedies in West’s Louisiana Statutes Annotated Code of Civil Procedure. He has frequently lectured on commercial transactions and legal opinion issues. Mr. Willis is a member of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers and a charter member of the Working Group on Legal Opinions. Affiliation
