Barbara Johnston Fletcher, RN, MSN, FAAN, FPCNA
Biography
Barbara Johnston Fletcher is currently Clinical Associate Professor in the School of Nursing
at University of North Florida, Jacksonville, Florida. Barbara is renowned as a clinician
and researcher in the fi eld of cardiovascular nursing, having conducted seminal studies on activity
for cardiac patients as well as federally funded studies addressing cardiovascular risk factors. She has
also served a leadership role in the AHA’s Council on Cardiovascular Nursing, playing a critical role
in increasing visibility for nursing science, and expanding the scope of nursing’s infl uence in important
patient care and research issues. Barbara currently serves on the PCNA Board of Directors.

Elizabeth Ofi li, MD, MPH, FACC
Biography
Dr. Elizabeth Ofi li is Professor of Medicine and Chief of Cardiology at Morehouse
School of Medicine (MSM) and Director of the Clinical Research Center. Dr. Ofi li
evaluates the role of echocardiography in clinical and population-based trials of hypertension and
heart failure with particular relevance to health disparities. Dr. Ofi li has published over 100 scientifi c
papers and has served on NIH and AHA study sections and review committees and on national
research advisory committees; Dr. Ofi li is a past-president of the ABC.

Biography
Dr. H. Vernon Anderson is a board certifi ed interventional cardiologist, who has served
and continues to serve on numerous committees, work groups and task forces with
the AHA, ACC, and SCAI. Dr. Anderson is a researcher and clinician in the University of Texas Division
of Cardiovascular Medicine, and was recently voted “Teacher of the Year” by the cardiology
fellows. He has lectured internationally on myriad interventional cardiology topics and authored 95
abstracts, 81 articles, 31 reviews and editorials, and 23 book chapters.

Dr. Randal Thomas is the Director, Cardiovascular Health Clinic, Mayo Clinic, Rochester,
Minnesota, the Project Director of the CardioVision 2020 Community-based
Cardiovascular Health Promotion Initiative in Olmsted County, and the President of
the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation. He also serves on the
Wellness Executive Committee of the Dan Abraham Healthy Living Center and is the Medical Director
of the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester.

J. Jeffrey Marshall, MD , FSCAI, FACC
Biography
Dr. Jeff Marshall specializes in the interventional treatment of carotid, coronary, and
peripheral atherosclerotic disease. Dr. Marshall currently serves as the Director of the Cardiac
Catheterization Laboratories at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, Georgia, and has
previously served as an Assistant Professor of Cardiology at MCV and as an Associate Professor of
Cardiology at Emory University in Atlanta. Dr. Marshall has been active in cardiovascular research,
participating in numerous clinical and preclinical research trials and grants. He has also been actively
involved with SCAI for more than a decade, currently serving as the Society’s Vice President.

Ann Fuller Bendall
Biography
Ann Fuller Bendall is a 2006 graduate of WomenHeart’s Science & Leadership
Symposium at Mayo Clinic, where she became a WomenHeart Champion
community education volunteer educating women about heart disease, their
leading health risk, and for the past four years has served as Support Network
Coordinator for WomenHeart of Memphis. Until recently she served
as president and then board member of her neighborhood civic group.

Theodore A. Bass, MD, FSCAI
Biography
Dr. Theodore Bass serves as Professor and Chief of the Division of Cardiology,
Medical Director of the Cardiovascular Center, and as Program Director
of the Interventional Cardiology Fellowship at the University of Florida
College of Medicine-Jacksonville. Dr. Bass has also worked extensively with
SCAI, overseeing the Cardiovascular Regional Education Symposia and Training
(CREST) programs, speaking at numerous SCAI educational programs and
currently serving as the SCAI Secretary. Dr. Bass has been widely published in
interventional cardiology publications.

Dr. Bonnie Sanderson is an Associate Professor at the Auburn School of Nursing.
Dr. Sanderson has over 20 years of clinical, academic, and research experience
in preventive and rehabilitative cardiology fi eld, has authored numerous
peer-reviewed publications in the fi eld, and is certifi ed as a Clinical Exercise
Specialist and Program Director by the American College of Sports Medicine
(ACSM). She serves as an Associate Editor of the Journal of Cardiovascular and
Pulmonary Rehabilitation and Prevention. She serves on the Board of Directors
and is the President Elect for AACVPR.
