  • Individuals with ADHD often struggle with responding appropriately when feeling strong emotions. Over-reacting or under-reacting, they can become increasingly out of sync with their surrounding environment as they respond to internal emotional cues. Mindfulness techniques can help break this cycle by allowing them to stay centered in the present moment. This will be an experiential workshop presenting specific mindfulness skills which can be practiced and mastered in your day to day life on your own.
  • Mindful Approaches to Managing Emotions: 1. Participants will be introduced to the concept of emotional dysregulation and its neurobiological causes. 2. Participants will learn about the core concepts of mindfulness. 3. Participants will learn about the concept of mindful emotional management in ADHD. 4. Participants will learn mindfulness techniques applied to mindful emotional management in ADHD. 5. Participants will apply techniques of Mindful Experiencing and Mindful Releasing with Mindful Emotional Management within experiential group practice.

  • ADHD Coaching Examined: Results from A Study on Quantifying the Effects of ADHD Coaching for Students in Higher Education: This presentation provides participants an opportunity to learn about the results of the first comprehensive national study regarding the benefits of ADHD college coaching. During the 2009-2010 academic year Wayne State University has conducted a large scale field test of the Edge Foundation coaching model on 10 different campuses. This research is sponsored by the Edge Foundation. Results include quantitative and qualitative measures of the effects of the Edge Foundation’s coaching model on the academic and social outcomes of undergraduates with ADHD in college and university settings.
  • ADHD Coaching Examined: Results from A Study on Quantifying the Effects of ADHD Coaching for Students in Higher Education: 1. Participants will understand the key elements of the Edge Foundation Coaching model. 2. Participants will understand the research process used by Wayne State University in this study and develop an increased understanding of research methods available to measure the effects of coaching. 3. Participants will be able to identify the benefits of ADHD coaching for college students. 4. Participants will understand the limitations of ADHD coaching and how those limitations might be mitigated. 5. Participants will understand the needs for future research related to ADHD coaching.

Discussions will cover how typical symptoms of ADHD in both parents and children impact family living. Specific strategies and tips for raising ADHD children as an ADHD parent will be addressed.

From this theory, he has developed numerous clinical implications concerning the diagnosis and management of ADHD.

  • This presentation will demonstrate three workshop programs that were designed by Fairfax County Public Schools (VA). The workshops are: 1) a currently working on three-part series on Classroom Basics in ADHD, Academic Strategies with ADHD, and Behavioral Strategies with ADHD, and 2) a powerpoint workshop with a popular video "ADHD Teens Talk" for training in secondary schools, and 3) a workshop on Executive Functioning. These workshops will be explained by the presenters and attendees will be able to bring these programs back to their schools for training purposes.
  • School Training Programs in ADHD and Executive Functioning: 1. Will have a better understanding of the variability of difficulties that children with ADHD face. 2. Will learn directly from teens with ADHD and experienced teachers the positive factors that influence success in school. 3. Will increase their knowledge about the value of working closely with parents to form a partnership for student learning. 4. Will have concrete training programs from this workshop that they will be able to share with their school staff. 5. Will learn how school staff, community professionals, and parents can form a training partnership to provide low cost training in their schools.
