- The Medical Directors Conference this year provides an
up-to-the-minute look at how data on related and unrelated
allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplant outcomes are
being collected and analyzed for center-specific reports – a
requirement of the Stem Cell Therapeutic and Research
Act of 2005. The BMT community is responding to the
new federal law with the Stem Cell Transplant Outcomes
Database (SCTOD).
|
- This session will feature a panel discussion of key questions
likely to be faced by program directors. It is designed to be
interactive and questions/comments will be encouraged.
|
- Questions to be addressed include:
• When will my center’s data be analyzed?
• What outcomes will be measured to assess my center’s
performance?
• How will center-specific reports be made available to
me and to the public?
• Will my center’s outcomes be adjusted for patient volume,
participation in clinical trials or other patient and
treatment variables?
• Will pediatric patient outcomes be handled differently
than adult patient outcomes?
• What should I do if an outcome for my center falls
outside of norms?
• Are steps being taken to anticipate and prevent unintended
consequences of center-specific reporting?
|
- Although specifically designed for BMT center medical
directors, the conference is open to administrative directors
and all BMT Tandem Meetings registrants.
