  • We are all working hard to get the rest of the world to overcome their hostility and prejudice around AD/HD. And yet, all too often those of us who have dedicated our lives to this cause end up undermining each other. Infighting, nit-picking, and “I don’t agree with her,” or even, “She rubs me the wrong way,” are undermining our power. We know that every ADDer is different, that each of us has our own particular flavor of this disorder. It’s time to celebrate all the voices, highlight what each of us is doing, connect with each other, support each other, not just despite our differences, but because of them. We have to move from a scarcity mindset to one of abundance.

  • Sari Solden, MS, LMFT
  • In this very personal keynote, Sari Solden, celebrates her involvement with ADDA and the field of adult ADHD for 25 years by paying tribute to, and expressing gratitude for the invaluable lessons she has learned from the brave men and women who fight every day to find a way to follow their own path and fulfill their dreams. Sari looks back 25 years ago to openly review her personal and professional turning points as well as the field of adult ADHD. She examines how adults slowly transformed the way the world understands ADHD and in the process came together to transform themselves. Her anniversary wishes for you in your own journey are based on what she understands now, 25 years later, about what it truly means to create and live a meaningful life with the unique challenges and of adult ADHD. She will encourage you to make peace with yourself and your differences, to let others know who you are, and most importantly to view your uniqueness, not as a flaw to be tolerated by others or rejected by yourself, but just one of infinite variations experienced by every human being. Sari “very truly” sees women and men with ADHD as real heroes, who face the world bravely, with a unique set of challenges and amazing perseverance and determination. She takes this opportunity to acknowledge the privilege it has been to witness the growth and development, courage and generosity, of all the men and women she has met around the world at conferences, worked with as a therapist, a colleague, or as a fellow traveler on this powerful journey through ADDulthood.

  • “We are what we believe we are.” - C.S. Lewis Carl Jung’s theory about archetypes states that we all inherit images and innate thought patterns about ourselves, which we internalize as an evolving storyline. These storylines represent our identities and serve as the foundation of beliefs upon which we build our lives. They shape who we are and what we think we are capable of. A significant part of managing ADHD involves creating sustainable behavioral changes that compensate for specific challenges. However, we must believe we are capable of change before we can create or sustain it. Essentially, we must reframe our mindsets and improve our confidence – laying the foundation for behavioral change. Discover how to use healing life narratives as an effective tool to rewrite your personal storyline by reconstructing the past, examining/changing the present and envisioning the future. Learn how healing life narratives enhance your propensity to create sustainable behavioral changes by challenging your current perspective about yourself and ADHD. In this workshop, you’ll learn how to use healing life narratives to reframe your mindset, boost self-confidence, find inspiration, release negativity, and unleash hidden potential/talents – all of which fuel action and behavioral change.

  • Russell Ramsey
  • It is increasingly understood that motivational deficits associated with functioning certain brain regions play a central role in ADHD. Said differently, ADHD can be considered a reward deficiency syndrome that makes it much more difficult for adults with ADHD to follow through on important tasks despite their knowledge that there will be negative consequences if they do not. The current session will review the impact of motivational deficits in coping with ADHD, with particular attention paid to procrastination. More specifically, this session will start with an introduction of this reward deficiency model and how it contributes to the understanding of ADHD and its related difficulties. The rest of the session will focus on the use of motivational enhancement and implementation strategies within the context of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for adult ADHD in order to increase the use of these strategies in daily life. In particular, the session will focus on the problem of procrastination.

  • Making good career decisions with ADHD can be overwhelmingly difficult. This workshop will focus on providing a method of determining what areas of work are best, given an individual's strengths and challenges, and how to assess whether an ill-fitting job can be saved, or whether it's time to jump ship and go to new environments.
  • The workshop will consist of three parts: 1) Exploring the concept of putting all of one's puzzle pieces together…to see how the completed picture fits with suitable career options 2) Transitioning into a new job/career either by choice or as the result of someone else's choice, and 3) Learning to diagnose whether an existing job in trouble can be saved. Bring your career questions and join us for a lively discussion!

  • Linda Roggli
  • Whether you were shocked or relieved at your ADHD diagnosis, there is a period of time (I call it Stage One) when you may cycle quickly through Happiness, Anger, Sadness and then… you resolutely decide to FIX THIS DARNED ADHD for good! There are a lot of "solutions" out there. Some work well, some less so. This session offers a sweeping overview of options currently used to "fix" ADHD from supplements to coaching to therapy to memory training. More than just a recitation of traditional methods, however this session will also offer suggestions on how to pull together an ADHD Dream Team that can support the ADHD adult. It will present a bevy of tried and true tips and tricks culled from the experience of hundreds of ADHD adults. Finally, it will reassure participants that even without a quick fix, it is possible to move through Stages Two and Three of the ADHD diagnosis to live a richly rewarding life. If you're newly-diagnosed and looking for some quick answers, this is the session for you.
