ACPEs Technology Task Force was created by our Board of Representatives to review and enhance the ways the ACPE, its centers and members, can benefit from the wealth of technology available. Led by ACPE Executive Director Teresa Snorton, the beginning work of the task force has been to take a look at our existing technology and maximize the use and value we receive from it.

ACPE Supervisors who traveled to Israel in May 2010 will present their reflections on the trip, which included participation in the 6th Annual Pastoral Care Conference for Jewish Professionals and consultation with spiritual care leaders in Israel who are working to introduce clinical pastoral education and professional chaplaincy into the country. Other participants in the trip from the National Association of Jewish Chaplains and the College of Pastoral Supervision and Psychotherapy will join the group via the internet, along with representatives from the Jewish spiritual care movement. Respondents from the ACPE Accreditation, Certification and Professional Ethics Commission and Standards Committee will reflect on the implications of this dialogue for ACPEs commitment to multicultural competencies.

Changing economics and demographics often make it difficult for ACPE centers to readily fill vacant supervisor positions or to begin new CPE programs. The Intentional Interim Supervisor Project is designed to provide the opportunity to fulfill the educational mission of ACPE by recognizing transition periods that often occur and by creating a systematic way to resource these kinds of situations. The goal is to retain ACPE Centers as well as to facilitate a mechanism for new centers to begin to operate. Bring your ideas, suggestions, and reflections.

Rachael Naomi Remen, M.D.

Dr. Remen is Clinical Professor of Family and Community Medicine at the UCSF School of Medicine. She is Director of the innovative UCSF course, The Healers Art, presently taught in 60 medical schools nationwide. She is Co-Founder and Medical Director of the Commonweal Cancer Help Program featured in the groundbreaking Bill Moyers PBS series, Healing and the Mind. She is Founder and Director of the Institute for the Study of Health and Illness at Commonweal, a post-graduate and undergraduate program for physicians who wish to reclaim their calling and integrate Hippocratic values into their work. Dr. Remen has a 55-year personal history of Crohns disease and her work is a unique blend of the viewpoint of physician and patient. She is the author of the New York Times bestseller Kitchen Table Wisdom and the national bestseller My Grandfathers Blessing. She has been selected as a speaker for the ACPE Annual Meeting in Salt Lake City because of her innovative work in holistic and integrative medicine.A
