Mario A. Mata Biography Mario A. Mata, a business and estate planning partner, joined Cantey Hanger, LLP after having established himself as a nationally recognized authority on international trusts and related wealth preservation planning strategies. Mr. Mata is a graduate of the University of Texas School of Law in Austin where he received his law degree in 1978. Prior to that, Mr. Mata graduated from the University of Texas School of Business where he received his BBA in Accounting with Honors in 1976. Mr. Mata has experience in all aspects of business, estate and tax planning for high net worth individuals and families including strategies to efficiently transfer family and personal wealth, both during lifetime and at death, to existing and future generations. However, Mr. Mata is best known for his use of international wealth preservation structures for high net worth individuals in the United States, Latin America, Europe and other foreign jurisdictions. Eric M. Mathis

Eric M. Mathis Biography Eric M. Mathis is an associate based in the Detroit office of Butzel Long, practicing primarily in the area of commercial litigation. Mr. Mathis concentrates his practice in litigation matters, in both state and federal courts. His experience includes quiet title actions, nuisance and trespass cases, landlord/tenant cases and other real estate litigation matters. He represents Tier 1 automotive suppliers, and has been successful in receiving temporary restraining orders and preliminary injunctions. He defends product liability cases, with extensive experience defending asbestos claims on a state and nationwide basis. Mr. Mathis graduated from the University of Michigan (B.A., 1996) and the University of Pittsburgh School of Law (J.D., 2002), where he wrote for The Pittsburgh Journal of Technology Law and Policy and served as Vice-President of the Black Law Students Association, coordinating the High School Moot Court Competition and the Street Law Clinic. Prior to joining Butzel Long, he managed several retail clothing stores. Mr. Mathis’ speaking engagements include: “Successful Cover Letter Writing,” CLEO 2008 Mid-Summer Professional Development Seminar & Career Fair, Chicago, IL; "Subprime Mortgage Meltdown - Turning Down the Heat,” American Bar Association, Section of Real Property, Trust and Estate Law's 19th Annual Spring Symposia, Washington, D.C.; and “Electronic Discovery: Meet The New Rules,” National Bar Association Young Lawyers Division’s 4th Annual Retreat, Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Mr. Mathis serves on the Board of Directors of the Wolverine Bar Association and on the Barristers Board of Directors for the Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association, where he was named 2007 Barrister of the Year. He is Chair of the Young Lawyers Division of the National Bar Association. He is a member of the American Bar Association (ABA) Section of Litigation, is a Committee Vice-Chair of the Real Property Litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee of the ABA Section of Real Property, Trust and Estate Law and a member of the Diversity Committee of the ABA Section of Real Property, Trust and Estate Law. Matthew P. Matiasevich Biography Matthew P. Matiasevich specializes in trust and estate litigation and is a partner at Evans, Latham & Campisi in San Francisco, California. He received his B.A. from Stanford University and his J.D. from the University of California at Davis, and he has worked on a wide variety of trust-related litigation, both in California and in other jurisdictions. He authored a chapter in “California Trust and Probate Litigation”(CEB, 1999), has co-written numerous updates for that book, and has published in Probate & Property. In addition, he has spoken to groups that include the American Bar Association’s Section for Real Property, Probate and Trust Law, the American Bankers Association, and the Heckerling Institute on Estate Planning. His reported cases include Conservatorship of Coombs (1998) 67 Cal.App.4th 1395, 79 Cal.Rptr.2d 799.
